Buzzr TV is the new network that, like GSN, aired most of classic Mark Goodson or FremantleMedia game shows from the 70s and 80s. But do you really enjoy this new channel? Earlier this morning, I got a new message from someone about Buzzr holiday event about airing the marathon featuring Betty White. At the same message, he also told me about the rerun abuse, because the new game show channel has keep airing the same episodes every six to eight weeks and mention that this new network must end if they keep this up, despite that this new network has already debut on TV market several months ago.

First off, I agree of what he said about the rerun. I notice the same episode of family names on Family Feud, they restarted Super Password back to the very first episode(I know that Pat Sajak was the first guest), and I even watched one of black and white I’ve Got a Secret episodes and I notice few of the secrets and couple of preforms I saw before. I do enjoy most of those classic shows, I just wish they need to expand a little. They are few classic Mark Goodson shows they didn’t even air yet. Few of them such as Password Plus, Trivia Trap, To Tell the Truth in later years, and Ray Combs’ Family Feud (they aired the Challenge pilot with him before so why not start on that). There even black and white shows that didn’t got wipe out or erase, remember GSN overnight block like Beat the Clock? So why they didn’t air more of those classic game shows? It not like I started to hate this new network because of this, I do enjoy it most of the time, just like I still watch GSN today. With most of reality shows I don’t care about and less of classic rerun, GSN do have some good shows, like the Chase, Idiotest, and the new Chain Reaction (it way better than 2006 one).

But despite of this rerun abuse, I don’t see that Buzzr will ever going to end real soon. First off, even they continue with this rerun thing, Buzzr have been doing few promotions and event, like Lost and Found where they aired unsold pilot shows, and recent Buzzr Casino. I see few new networks before that has a rocky start, like the Hub Network back in 2010. The network that replaces Discovery Kids didn’t have a good population but it did stay on for a while, thanks to My Little Pony. And what about the Oprah Network back in 2011? It had a bad start and got Oprah lose a lot of money because of it, but that was four years ago and OWN is still on the air today. I know you don’t like to talk about Oprah. Sorry about mentioning her, I don’t watch that network or her talk show too as well. It’s just an example.

Anyway, few cable networks has come and gone, but I don’t see Buzzr may go away real soon, at least for few more years (Hub Network lasted for four years before Discovery Family). And who know, maybe 2016 may be better for Buzzr, hopefully to expand few more classic shows, like classic Password, 1986 Card Sharks with Eubanks, Combs’ Feud, and maybe the Price is Right? I’m still hoping for that. And speaking of that today is Bob Barker’s 92th birthday. Just wish him a happy b-day for the former star of TPIR.

Anyway, do you think this new network need to expand more shows or have to end in the very-short run? Let me know in the comment below.

Nice article on your thoughts on BUZZR, D.J.

Either BUZZR expands to make a profit in 2016 or go out of business in a month or two.

If BUZZR wants to make a profit, it could air for about 3-4 hours in late nights every night informercials that are not game show related like GSN has done in late night hours since 1998.

And it is doubtful BUZZR and Fremantle want to keep the channel alive to raise money to help make a profit and digitalize more game show episodes by doing a Kickstarter or Indiegogo campaign. Not even game show fans doing a net petition to BUZZR to stop its 8-16 week episode RERUN ABUSE and always air new to BUZZR game show episodes could help and be a possibility!

If BUZZR went kaput in early 2016, how would the BUZZR affiliates find digital subchannel replacements (including Heartland, Decades, Get TV, Grit TV, Comet, Works, and PBJ) to take BUZZR's place if BUZZR ceases? I'd guess the Luken owned PBJ would make a deal with the FOX O&O channels to take BUZZR's place if BUZZR did cease in a few months from now if the profit can't be made. (I think the PBJ website is www.watchpbj.com - PBJ carries a mix of 1970's-1980's kid shows from the Dreamworks Classic Media library, believe it or not).

Remember a small TV network in 1990 that only lasted in 1990-early 1991 called Star Television TV Heaven? It launched in September 1990 with about 10 affiliates (including Orlando, Florida; Toledo, Ohio; Saginaw/Flint, Michigan; and - where an independent used the TV Heaven name long before Star TV - Minneapolis/Saint Paul, Minnesota) with plans to expand to about to 20 more afilliates in the 1991 year, the Star TV Heaven network carried 4 hour blocks of informercials and about 8 hours of vintage TV shows in 8 hour blocks in theme blocks and theme nights, including a 90 minute Fun and Games block where reruns of 3 game shows - Trivia Trap, 1988 New Liar's Club, and 1985 Jackpot - were aired. However, on January 14, 1991 - a few days before the 1991 Gulf War was launched - the Star TV Heaven channel ceased because of running out of cash with no profit or something like that. - Could this happen to BUZZR? Doubtful...

We will have to see as we go into 2016 about BUZZR's fate and if it can get out of the red or something like that. Of course, if you have seen BUZZR's Facebook page, everytime someone posts about BUZZR's RERUN ABUSE it can get removed by BUZZR's Facebook mods or something like that after several to many hours.
