I like to wish the happy 14th “birth-iversary” to the website I always support since the day I join in. That website is named Deviantart. Of course every have a story of how they got started, here my.
All my life, all I wanted to do is draw and paint. I watched cartoons since I was a kid, I took few art classes in high school and college, and I also watched PBS painting shows like Donna Dewberry and of course Bob Ross. It inspired me what I wanted to do for my living. I show my artworks to my family, my friends, and my high school. They support my dream and my decision of what I wanted to do. However, I wanted to show more than just my hometown. During my internet times as a kid, I visited the shows fansite, like Simpsons, and I see a lot of fanarts and drawings people posted. I thought this was a good idea to post my drawings online. This was my opportunity to show my art talents to the world. This was just the beginning.
Before discovery DA, I submit my pics to different fansites, like Simpsons and Pokemon. Those were the only places to submit my drawings, because this was over ten years ago, when we have no Facebook, Youtube, Blogger, or even Twitter exists yet. I couldn’t afford to create my own page; it cost money. However, one day, during the time on the internet, I bumped into this one website called “Deviantart.” Thought this was good place to visit, I didn’t have a chance to register; don’t know why. But later on I begin to think about DA site more and more. I learned about it easy to join and I can post whatever I want. I wanted to pursue my artworks even more not just the Simpsons or Pokemon, but other shows like Family Guy, Aqua Teen, and later on Total Drama, 6teen, etc, and also my paintings, my landscapes, and so on.
So finally on June 1, 2007, I finally signed up on Deviantart for a first time. I was known as djcchs2004. Since I don’t go to those fanart websites anymore, I begin to focus in my new page. Although you know me for Simpsons and TD, you don’t know that my early pics were doing flowers and landscapes at a time. A while ago, I was flipping channels when I saw painting shows like One Stroke Painting and Joy of Painting. It inspired me to do those kinds of paintings. I give those paintings a try. The yellow flower was my first pic to ever post on my DA page. Today the flower painting I did seven years ago along with few of my paintings is now hooked up on my family wall. Some I give it away to my friends or family from out of town. Occasionally, I still do flowers and landscapes, but not as much when I focus on drawing. Here my landscape and flower paintings.
During my early years, my drawings were just acrylic and colors markers. I didn’t have Photoshop at a time, so this was the only options to use. My first few years were just Simpsons and Family Guy, later on Aqua Teen. Here my early works.
Early 2009 I begin doing Fresh TV shows starting with 6teen and later Total Drama. I begin watching those shows in late 2008 when Cartoon Network owned rights to aired them at a time. I was hooked. So since then, I started to draw more Fresh TV shows than ever, although I still continue to do Simpsons, Family Guy, etc. Check out my artworks in 2009.
The year 2012 I begin a new era for my page. I finally got a photoshop and begin to color digitally. I switch from acrylic traditional paint to digital one. Also, with the new rule for premium membership, I changed my name from djcchs2004 to DJgames, since now I focus on drawing characters and game shows. Using photoshop has change a lot. Using traditional paint, it takes about the whole day to finished, probably two days or longer. But with PS, I can now finished drawing and add color faster than before. This is where I could save time and possibly do more pics. Here my 2012 digital artwork.
Also in the same year, I became a brony and start drawing My Little Pony. Thought at first was just for little girls, this current generation, aka Friendship is Magic, actually got a lot of attention for older audience, especially men. I couldn’t go on DA front page without seeing Pony pics in it. Here my first time drawing Ponies.
I go to this website all the time for many reasons, not just to show my art talent to the world, but to check out other fanart from other people as well and make friends. I also get a chance to add their drawings or pictures to my favorite and add people to my watch list. I could even submit my drawings to the group pages and stuff. It’s fun and easy to use. I think going to DA is the best website to visit. Like Bob Ross said, this is your world. And I think this website is a good place to show your world to the real entire world, like doing character on game shows, paring up in MK Double Dash, Blythe in Total Drama, making WOF layouts, girls wearing swimsuit, the list goes on. Now seven years, nearly one thousand pics, over two hundred people watching me, and over 82 thousands views (and counting) later, I continue to bring more creative ideas and my art talents to this website I always go to. Here to 14 more years and beyond for DA.
