Game Show Network now got the competition this summer when the new network was announced this week and it going to launch this year and I’m very excited about it, called BUZZR!
It’s the brand new network from FremantleMedia (known for Price is Right and any other Mark Goodson shows and also American Idol and Got Talent) which will focus on classic old game shows. (Mostly Mark Goodson/FremantleMedia) It’s like GSN but better. Imagine back in late 90s/early 2000s when “Game Show Network,” which it was originally called back then, aired our favorite 1970s/1980s shows we all grown up. They even aired Price is Right back then before they stopped airing it in April 2000. They also have good original shows, like Lingo and Russian Roulette, one of my favorites.
Now today, although they still airs few classics like Match Game, Press Your Luck, and yes, Sale of the Century, the now 20-year old channel is not great as it was. Some of my favorites like Wheel of Fortune and classic Family Feud (like Dawson and Combs) have stopped airing rerun, while Steve Harvey version has been airing a marathon almost every day. I do enjoy watch Steve on Feud most of the time, but give it the rest. They even adapt to reality shows which didn’t last long, like Family Trade which didn’t feel like a game show or even competition reality show. Remember they did a dating show that take place in churches last year, what were they thinking?
Despite what I just mention, I still do enjoy GSN today, like what I say, Harvey’s Family Feud, and some new shows they have, like the Chase, which is one the best shows I like since Russian Roulette. And the Idiotest, which I thought did pretty well.
With BUZZR! has been announced and ready to debut in incoming months, I pretty excite about what we going to have. But it will be focusing on Mark Goodson or FremantleMedia shows which some already airing on GSN, like Match Game, Card Sharks, and Password, but hopefully they might start airing the other one like Classic Concentration, classic Let’s Make a Deal, Blockbusters, or even the Price is Right. We’ll wait and see.
